Zombieland Trailer Review

Film: Zombieland (2009)
Trailer Genre: Action/Comedy horror
Mark after viewing: 5/10

What happens in the trailer?
Scenes from the movie that introduce plot points are shown, with scenes showing different aspects of the film e.g. Actions scenes, to comedy.

Which positive, clever or interesting aspects do you think you could include in your own trailer? What generic features are fulfilled well?
There were very aspects to the trailer that were done well. The first being that each of the 4 main characters, were given their own introduction shot, with a close up - this helped the audience understand who in the trailer was an important player and who wasn't. Aslo the use of restricted narration in the trailer, helped add to the audience's imagination of what might happen e.g. when Tallahassee goes to hit a zombie ruond the head with a weapon and the shot cuts as the impact hits to another scene of a movement of a fairground ride. This helped the flow of the trailer as well as serving the use of restricted narration well.

Which aspects of the trailer did you think were unsuccessful, and would put off its target audience? How is it disappointing?
There are a few aspects to this trailer that are not done well, such as the the inclusion of various plot points. not very many were shown, the audience got no real sense as to what was going on, nor why - though sometimes a good thing, depending on the movie, it wasn't in this case. As you had no idea why there were doing what they were doing, other than surviving. The voice over was another issue I had with the trailer, it added a sense of "cliche" and "cheese", which, I feel, didn't really fit the trailer in general - this would put off some zombie fans, as it doesn't represent the horror and the tension usually brought abuot by Zombie films.
